Waist beads are a traditional adornment worn by many west African women since ancient times. They date back to the Yoruba women of Nigeria, but are also know to grace many Ghanaian women as well. Women wear waist beads for many reasons including: womanhood, sexuality, femininity, healing, spirituality, protection, waist training, and status.
A few things to keep in mind when measuring and ordering waistbeads.
GET NAKED! When measuring your waist, you should measure directly on the skin in the position you would like the waistbead strand to fall. DO NOT SUCK IN. This will result in your strand breaking due to pressure on the stringing material.
MEASURE ACCURATELY. A tape measure is easiest to use, however you can also use string/cord, mark the measurement and then measure the string. You want to be as accurate as possible so your beads will sit where intended. Sizes are measured in inches.
SIZE DOES NOT MATTER. Waistbeads are to make ALL women feel amazingly sexy and beautiful.
STRINGING MATTERS. Strands can be ordered on waxed cotton cord, elastic cord or wire w/ sterling silver clasp. Be mindful that traditional cotton cord strands can only be removed by cutting once tied. Elastic strands will arrive pre-tied based on size.
